In today’s times we live in a very toxic environment. The pollution in the air, the chemicals in our food, the water we drink and even the clothes we wear. At any given moment you may be exposed to toxins and heavy metals. These toxins accumulate in the body and can be stored in your fat cells, which tend to want to hang on to them.

A good way to release toxic build up in your body is to sweat such as in a sauna or hot bath. But for most busy people, they do not have the time to spend hours in the sauna for the best results. Plus that may be a bit too uncomfortable and when used for detoxification should be supervised by a licensed practitioner.

There is an easy alternative more and more people are finding great success with to rid your body of these unwanted toxins. That is the use of ionic detox footbaths. This is not your ordinary footbath.

Ionic Detox footbaths work by sending a small current that goes in a circuit through the body and generates positively charged ions. The high concentration of the ion field attaches to the negatively charged toxins neutralizing them and the body is then able to discard them through the approximate 2000 pores that are on the bottom of your feet. You can then experience the correct acid-alkaline ph balance as nature intended. It’s painless and takes about 30 minutes.

People who should not use this footbath are people with pace makers or who have organ transplants or expectant or nursing mothers.

Most Americans are in somewhat of an acid state. Our bodies are not in the natural ph balance that it should be. The result is that you are now left open to various diseases. A body that is in its natural alkaline-acid ph balance will be able to fight off the daily onslaught the body receives. This is a very important activity, especially if you are recovering from illness or post surgery!

The body has its own electrical field and if is too positively charged you are in an acid state. You can find out your own ph balance by going to your local health food store or drug store and purchase test strips. They are easy to use and show you in seconds if you are acid or alkaline.

Detox footbaths can assist in the following areas:

1) Enhancing the immune system

2) Assist in recovery time from injuries and surgery

3) Can relieve pain and joint stiffness due to arthritis

4) Improves sleep pattern

5) Remove heavy metals

6) Removes blood clot material

7) Improve liver and kidney function

During the use of an ionic foot bath the color of the water changes. The various colors can tell you what area the body may be detoxing.

Black or brown water is the liver.

Orange; the joints.

Dark green; the gallbladder

Yellowy green; kidneys, urinary tract,

White foam; Lymph nodes draining

Red flecks; blood clot material

Black flecks; heavy metals

The color of the water may be different for each individual due to water you use such as city water, well water, mineral water and the state of your health. When you put the copper array into water by itself you may see color changes in the water such as a brownish color. But it is the oily residue floating on the top that determines if you are getting rid of unwanted toxins in the body. The more you use the machine the less you will have yucky build up in the water.

An important part of using this system is to make sure you are properly hydrated. Drink plenty of good water (not distilled) before and during the session is very important as well as the use of colloidal minerals and electrolytes. This ensures better conductivity.

After only one use you may experience renewed energy and vitality. You owe it to yourself and family to regain better health and try using a detox footbath!

Discover how to detox for better health

There are a whole host of approaches to be good to your body coupled with a total body detox. Eating well, physical exercise and listening to a health consultant are good practices. But are you wondering what may be pro-habiting in your system, counteracting all your determined work?

The easiest way of flushing these lingering, unnatural compounds from your internal system is called detoxifying. Commonly called “a total body detox,” lots of alternative medicine consultants advocate the procedure. Even so they caution that detox should be performed slowly and with care. The medical community however caution that detoxifying your body needs to be taken with a serious grain of salt.

Before you start on a detox diet, check with your health practitioner, as certain people could have an adverse reaction, and pregnant and nursing mothers should not detox. Since natural detoxification and its processes do not make claims of being able to combat specific health conditions, they are not controlled by the governments food and drug administration and there’s no scientific evidence of its effectiveness.

But a detox diet is abuzz and if you’re wanting to explore the trend, here’s an brief look into this complementary system.

The length of time you detox for varies considerably. If done correctly and regularly, a healthy detox can remove toxins, residues and food additives from your system. You might have read the book called “The Fast Track One-Day Detox Diet” by Ann Louise Gittleman. In her book, Gittleman leads you through an 11 day detox program, during which they consume certain foods for 1 week proceeded by a one-day fast, then followed by the re-introduction of particular foods.

During the fast, detoxers can drink Gittleman’s fabulous, spiced life enhancing juice intended to fend off hunger pangs, promote metabolism, control blood sugar and flush toxins out of your body. The drink includes cranberry, lemon and orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.

We weren’t subjected to these things many years ago. Prior to the industrial revolution there were far fewer man made chemicals. Everyone is subjected to toxins in skin products such as soap and makeup or even your tap and shower water. The strength of a body detox to neutralize these toxins can be hard to trace.

The toxins collect in our system where they can prevent weight loss, increase aging and cause sluggishness, chest problems and allergies. Some of the main components in almost all natural detox supplements are milk thistle and dandelion root, which help boost and invigorate your liver.

Each time you follow a healthy detox diet your liver gets a break. This also makes it easy for all your other internal organs. They don’t have to work as hard to process all the man made chemicals that are getting in your body.

Most health consultant recommend a detox diet of raw vegetables and fruit for about seven days, combined with supplements and green tea. By supplying your body simple foods that can be digested easily, your body can focus on eliminating toxins. It can take 4 or 5 hours to digest and process a a junk food meal, but most raw fruits and vegetables lakes less than 30 minutes to digest.

The raw fruits and veggies detox diet programme is an 11 day detox diet that concentrates on “liver caring” and “colon-caring” foods. There are plenty of books and kits available on the topic that will include instructions, diet guidelines and supplement suggestions.

Doing a detox is very beneficial but you will want to be geared up and committed to doing it. Poisonous compounds in the body build up over time, making regular detox very beneficial.

The sooner you do a detox, the healthier you’re going to be in the long run. Detox side effects can include withdrawal headaches (caffeine), skin allergies and lethargy. You’re releasing the toxins that have been stored and they’re getting into your blood. You never fully know how your body will react.

Your feet are an important area of your body, especially when it comes to eliminating toxins. A regular foot detox using foot baths and detox patches can play an important role in detoxing your body, and are also a great way of pampering yourself.

5 Myths of Detox – Is Your Body Toxicated?

Detox is a way of removing environmental and dietary toxins from the body with the help of diets, herbs and other methods. It is very important to detox our body to maintain optimum health. There are some common misunderstandings and myths attached to detoxifying the body. Let us discuss them in some details.

MYTH #1 Colon detox and liver detox is the only detox: though it is very important to cleanse the liver and colon, there are other body parts like the gall bladder, kidneys and blood that also benefit from and need cleansing.

MYTH #2 We are not taking a lot of toxins into our body: actually, toxins in various forms are present all around us. The food we consume, the polluted environments around us, the unhealthy lifestyle that we follow are just some sources of getting toxins in our body. The pesticides consumed along with food, the chemicals from the polluted air that we breath, smoking and drinking, all create toxic deposits in the body cells that causes harm to our body. Detoxifying can help in removing these harmful toxins and make you healthier.

MYTH #3 Detox is used for losing weight: during detoxification, one follows a diet rich in fiber foods and consumes lots of water that eliminates toxins by increasing bowel movements and *********. You are encouraged to eat more organic foods and foods rich in vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that are required by the body for detoxification. The end result of this kind of diet is a healthier body with weight loss as just a side effect.

MYTH #4 Detox is dangerous: the detoxification process is dangerous only if you have some medical problems like anemia, eating disorder, diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid disease, cancer, terminal illness, etc. and you still continue to detox or if you don’t follow the advise properly. It is not advised for pregnant women and nursing mothers. Detox is done using safe natural products and one should stay away from fad diets.

MYTH #5 Our body can detox itself hence there is no need to detox: our body of course has an ability to detoxify to a certain extent but with the amount of toxins that are consumed everyday, our cells become overloaded with toxins and acid residues. This creates health problems. Thus it is required to detoxify our body and not just leave it to nature.

Detox Tips

detoxDixie Davey asked:

Feeling sluggish or out of sync? Having skin problems, aches and pains, or digestive problems? Straying from your healthier habits lately? It might be time for a detox.

Practiced for centuries by many cultures around the world ? including ayurvedic and Chinese medicine systems ? detoxification is about resting, cleansing and nourishing the body from the inside out. Protect from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health by elminating toxins.

How Does Detoxification Work?

Basically, detoxification means cleaning the blood. It does this mainly by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. The body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin. However, when this system is compromised, impurities aren’t properly filtered and every cell in the body is adversely affected.

A detox program can help the body’s natural cleaning process by:

1) Resting the organs through fasting;

2) Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;

3) Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys and skin;

4) Improving circulation of the blood; and

5) Refueling the body with healthy nutrients.

Do you need to detox?

Bennett suggests that everyone should detox at least once a year. A short detoxifying program is generally safe; in fact, scientific studies show that a detox is beneficial for health. Caution must be taken for nursing mothers, children and patients with chronic degenerative diseases, caner or others. Consult your health care practitioner if you have questions about whether detoxing is right for you.

Where Do You Begin?

First, lighten up your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process. Also, minimize use of chemical-based household cleaners and personal health care products (cleansers, shampoos, deodorants and toothpastes), and substitute natural alternatives.

Another deterrent to good health is stress, which triggers your body to release stress hormones into your system. While these hormones can provide the “adrenaline rush” to win a race or meet a deadline, in large amounts they create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver. So it’s a good idea to detox stressful life situations along with detoxifying your body.

Do you know which Detox program is best for you?

There are many detoxification programs, depending on your individual needs. Many programs follow a 7-day schedule.

Some even recommend two or more weeks. Be aware that you may have some withdrawal symptoms such as headaches. So drink plenty of water and that if you want to you can lie down until the headache subsides. Rest is the best remedy.

Other popular detoxing programs include:

Cleansing supplement packages, which generally contain fiber, vitamins, herbs and minerals. There are several safe products on the market, with easy-to-follow instructions.

A routine of drinking only water one day each week ? an ancient practice of many cultures

10 Ways to Help Your Body Detoxify

After a detoxification program, you can cleanse your body daily through diet, supplements and lifestyle practices.

1. Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Great detoxifying foods are cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, beets, radishes and seweed.

2. Cleanse and protect the liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, burdock and milk thistle, and drinking green tea.

3. Vitamin C helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.

4. Drink at least 2 quarts of water daily.

5. Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system.

6. Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions.

7. Practice hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Do this three times, and then get into bed for 30 minutes.

8. Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate wastes through perspiration.

9. Dry-brush your skin or try detoxifying patches or foot baths to remove toxins through your pores. Special brushes are available at natural products stores.

10. Exercise, walking, yoga, qigong or similar for detoxifying or cleansing, as well as many other exercises with specific health benefits.

Are there any side effects?

There are some possible side effects when detoxing. Some dont suffer at all. I remember my first detox where I suffered with headaches for two days. I was extremely tired and suffered severe body aches and pains. But once I got through those days I was fine. The first three or four days are the worst. But hang in as it does get better and you will be so proud of yourself. As I was suffering severely with Candida and also had two small children to take care of, I can say it was not easy but I was determined to go through it.

Detoxing symptoms commonly include headaches, lower back pain, dry mouth, bad breath, skin rashes, nausea, body odor, fatigue, abdominal gas and rumblings, mucous discharge, anxiety, boredom, joint and muscular aches and pains, cold feet and hands, sleeplessness and more. But remember not everyone suffers like this.

After Detox

My first detox I did for approximately 6 weeks. In a perfect world I would have continued to live the same lifestyle I did for the 6 weeks. But I live in the real world and found it was just not possible. I do eat a very healthy diet and detox at least twice a year. Make sure you exercise regularly.
