In the past few years, a number of diet plans have sprung up promising ‘quick weight loss’. One would think that with so many diet plans out there, there is no excuse for not losing weight. Unfortunately however, most of these diets are fad diets. They promise you rapid weight loss and make you lose weight too fast by unnatural and unhealthy means. However, as soon as you quit dieting and start eating normally, you gain back all that weight as rapidly as you ‘lost’ it!

One such fad diet is the detox diet. Like other fad diets, the detox diet also promotes itself with many empty promises. A detox diet claims to cleanse all the toxins and wastes from your body which have accumulated there thanks to your unhealthy eating habits over the years. There is no doubt that once you cleanse your body, you will lose at least five to ten pounds, but that won’t be FAT loss. Still I would have recommended it to you if not for the unhealthy weight loss methods it follows.

A detox diet often recommends fasting in some or other forms. There are several types of detox diets out there. Some would recommend you total fasting while with others you are required to survive only on fruit juices, cabbage soups, maple syrup or even lemon juice! There are also detox diets which recommend you to survive only on one specific vegetable or fruit.

You may call it detox dieting, or body cleansing, or fasting, but the fact remains that starving in any shape or form is dangerous for your health. Fasting for a short period of time maybe good for cleansing your body but prolonged fasting can have damaging effects on your body, such as dehydration, nausea, fatigue, low blood sugar level, etc!

The detox diet is a fad diet by all the angles: it makes empty promises, forces you to survive on a particular type of fruit or juice, makes you lose a few pounds quickly, and then the pounds roll back pretty quickly! In short, these diets are not only unhealthy but ineffective as well! As a matter of fact, if your kidneys, lymph system and liver are healthy and stable and if your hormone levels are normal, then you really don’t need to follow any detox diet in order to detoxify your body. Your body will automatically detoxify itself of all the toxins and wastes! As such, detox diets are totally useless.

The question then remains: how is it possible to lose weight easily and quickly! Well, I can tell you about a weight loss method which is simple and easy but NOT quick. Exercising regularly and eating a healthy, balanced meal, and drinking water or better still a natural green tea, will help you lose weight for sure, but requires patience on your part. If you are serious about weight loss, you only need to follow this natural weight loss method! Stop wasting your money and time on fad diets and worthless exercise machines; they are just designed to rob you of your hard-earned money!

Detox Drinks – Restoring and Refreshing

Electing to undergo detoxification is not only in the best interests of your health; it will give your overtaxed organs a respite from having to process toxic wastes left from foods which did you no good. Any good detox diet will have you avoiding all the junk and fast foods which fill you with harmful saturated fats and leave your body starved for real nutrition.

What Detox Drinks can Do

If you intend to begin a detox diet, you will be consuming a large amount of detox drinks which are meant to cleanse your system of both toxins and damaging free radicals. Your detox drinks will be made from freshly squeezed vegetable and/or fruit juices, full of the energizing ingredients which will have you feeling and looking younger in an amazingly short time.

Suggestions For Detox Drinks

You can begin your day with a detox drink of eight ounces of lukewarm purified water, to which the fresh juice of half a lemon has been added. If you drink this immediately after awakening, it will stimulate your digestive juices and get your system into gear. You should be drinking at least eight cups of detox drinks and purified water every day not only through your detox program, but on a permanent basis.

Once you’re up and running for the day, you can choose from a huge number of delicious detox drinks, like carrot-apple juice, carrot-veggie juice, or straight peach juice.

Your carrot- apple juice will be made from two or three organic green apples, one organic carrot, a couple of fresh organic basil leaves, and about a teaspoon of freshly grated organic ginger root. You’ll rinse all the fruits in purified water, chop them into small chunks, and feed them into your juicer.

Your carrot-veggie juice will include juice for four organic carrots, a quarter cup of fresh organic dandelion leaves, one organic kale leaf, two sprigs of organic spearmint leaves, and a couple of organic basil or coriander leaves. Once again you’ll wash them and cut them into a size suitable for feeding into your juicer. Your peach juice will be made from three rinsed, diced, and pitted organic peaches.

When You Can’t Find Organic

If you absolutely can’t find organic produce for your detox drinks, you can get by with rinsing good fresh fruits and veggies in a mix of one part vinegar to three parts purified water. This will cleanse their skins of all toxic pesticides and herbicides, and chemical fertilizers, although it won’t really take care of the toxic residue they may have absorbed into their pulp. But it’s better than doing nothing.

Taking A Look At A Full Body Detox Regimen

If you’re feeling fatigued no matter how much sleep and you get bloated no matter how much you diet, then you may need a full body detox. Even if you eat healthy foods, waste products can build up in your system and leave you feeling tired and drained. In this article, we’ll talk about how a body detoxification program can put you on the road to a healthier life.

Detoxification is beneficial because harmful substances in our diet can build up in the body and cause fatigue, headaches, nausea and even disease. There are a countless number of detox diets available. The basic idea is to temporarily give up certain foods that are thought to contain “toxins,” such as meat, sugar, white flour, certain grains, dairy products and caffeine.

Of course, alcohol and non-medicinal narcotics are not allowed! These diets typically start with a short fasting period and is then followed by a strict diet of raw vegetables, fruit, fruit juices and water. The best diet is one based on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean sources of protein and unsaturated fats. Add regular exercise and stress reduction techniques, and you have a solid foundation for good health.

Some regimens advise using herbal laxatives, as a natural bowel cleanse, to flush out the intestine and liver. The duration of such regimens often ranges from seven to 10 days. Some people report they feel better, more focused and energetic during and after detox body cleansing.

This may be due to their belief that they are doing something good for their body. But it may also be due to not eating much – perhaps a juice fast or water fast – for more than several days. Calorie restriction can lead to heightened feelings of psychological well-being.

There is no evidence from the mainstream medical community that full body detox diets actually provide substantial benefits to your overall health. In fact, a healthy body can dispel these toxins on its own through the urine and stools.

Early side effects of fasting include headaches because of the sudden drop in blood sugar and prolonged fasting or severe calorie restriction can result in anemia, low blood sugar and an irregular heartbeat. You should consult a doctor before fasting or undergoing any body detoxification cleansing program.

If you’re concerned about your lack of energy, then consult a doctor before you begin a full body detox, to make sure that you don’t have an illness that requires treatment. There are a variety of ways to cleanse your system of toxins such as a detox body wrap, liver cleansing, sugar detox and a variety of other detoxification products. Be sure that you fuel your body well and get plenty of sleep. It’s the best way to give your body the ultimate energy boost.

“We are what we eat”, is an old Indian quote. It is also known to be very true because we all know our colons are the first to be effected by the kind of our diets we eat and also our eating habit. Usually people with poor diets and unhealthy eating habits develop a fecal impaction readily. This way of living forms and overloads our system with harmful bacteria that survive in our colons. By improving our everyday diet and eating habits still we can hope for reversing these negative effects of poor diets we are used to eating. The colon cleansing diets are made specially to facilitate the growth of the helpful bacteria and also as to eliminate the bad one from the system. It is not very difficult to find a right diet and help our body to cleanse the colon.

Detoxify your body and mind

Once you are determined to start the process of the colon cleansing, you should stop eating unhealthy food and even develop good eating habits. This is of utmost importance. The foods mentioned below should be removed from your day to day diet: fatty food, especially the ones that are fried in the very unhealthy and highly dangerous hydrogenated oils, products such as beef, poultry, eggs. This foods in your diet should be replaced with organic varieties.

One should stop taking alcohol and soda drinks completely and increase the intake of water and very low sugar fruit juices. Try to avoid using anything which is highly processed such as aspartame or any other artificial sweetener and MSG(Monosodium glutamate). MSG is a sodium salt of or the group of glutamic acid, a non-essential amino acid. It is very often used as a food additive and is very well and commonly marketed as a flavor enhancer. All the varieties of food that contain MSG which can be extremely harmful to the colon and can cause very big fecal impaction in time. The Difference Between Juice Fasting and Juice Detox

detoxLeroy Fong asked:

A juice detox is very similar to a juice fast with one essential difference. You continue to eat certain foods while you drink your juices. Many of you may be thinking that this therefore constitutes a normal detox diet but it doesn’t – the majority of what you ingest over the specified timeframe is simply fruit and vegetable juice but occasionally, generally towards the end of the detox, small amounts of food are also allowed.

This type of detox is great for those of you who are trying detox for the first time. A juice detox offers all the benefits of a juice fast i.e. it quickly eliminates toxins from the body and gives a great feeling of well being, but it is made that little bit easier because of the food allowance.

Basically many juice detox programmes consist of a semi-fast which is based on a fruit and vegetable juice fast with whole fruit, raw vegetables and a few nutritional supplements thrown in as well.

A good example of a juice detox is as follows:

Day 1 – drink freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice every four hours. If you feel thirsty in between juice drinks you can have filtered water or herbal tea as an extra drink. Day 2 – as day one but you can add up to 1lb of grapes and three bananas. Day 3 – as day two plus a serving of raw vegetables and another fruit choice. Day 4 to 7 – as day three plus a mixture of whole grain cereals, beans, nuts and seeds. This is essentially a detox diet based around juice.

Alternatively, you may want to drink your fruit juices throughout the day and have a bowl of clear vegetable broth in the evening. The length of time you remain on the juice detox is entirely up to you however it is not advisable to continue for more than a week or two at most.

A juice detox is a great way to start off your detoxing career or for those of you who are veterans of the diets then this is a fantastic little fill in between those 30 day fasts. Either way the benefits will be felt within days of your first juice drink and they will continue to be felt for months after you finish.
