Is it beneficial to detox your body before dieting?

Ashley D asked:
I’ve been reading a lot about detoxing your body (not with expensive supplements… just by fasting pretty much) to expel the toxins from your body. I’m interesting in doing this for a few days before i diet. Does it actually work, and will I gain all of the weight right back if I eat sensibly? I’m not one of those girls who is trying to fast/detox for a quick weightloss fix, I’m doing it to prep my body for the diet to become healthier. I feel lousy all of the time, and I really believe that it’s everything that is in my body (that shouldn’t be there!)

Detox is good, try a seaweed wrap at a salon. Check with your doctor before you try any intense detox methods.
The new series on Discover Health by Dr OZ proved that detox has not benifits to health. They showed two groups and the detox group saw not health improvements as compared to the eatting regular groups.
hmmm well….Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea.I would take a few days off of work though because detoxing takes alot of bathroom if you know what I mean that is if your taking any pills to detox in the way of going to the bathroom alot and clearing out your whole body. You should try it because it will be like a fresh start and you probably will be succesful with your diet in the long run.Good Luck.
Definately beneficial. Chech out it has information about different cleanses and detox diets.
Yes it is, and it gives you a fresh start, to start eating sensibily I do that once in a while, I take 1/4 cup of real maple syrup, 1 whole lemon in 8 oz. of water, and then I sip that all day and drink just water all day long, I do it for 2 days, the pure maple syrup has lots of minerals in it, I usually end up loosing about 10 lbs, of course its all water, but it gives you a good start, and I never feel hungry!!!!! while I’m doing it.
I detoxify my body every so often. I can tell you that I honestly feel sooooo buch better, clear minded, alert, and energetic.
When I want to kick start my diet to lose a few pounds, it certainly helps.
As long as I don’t continiously start eating all kinds of crap again (cakes, rolls, pancakes, candy) then I don’t gain it back. Its when my “want” over rides my “need” that I gain the wait.
Good luck to you.
Yes a detox can help you lost weight more easily, but fasting is not the same thing. A detox means eating LOTS of greens and other vegetables like- barley, wheat grass, spinach, tomatoes, cranberry juice, broccoli, and artichoke. You should do this for like 2 days.
check out this website it will help alot:
Yes. Detoxing your system allows your bodies natural hormones and amino acids to effectiveley work better in conjunstion with excersize and healthy eating. The best way to flush your systme of toxins is to drink 4oz unsweeted cranberry juice with 8 oz water 2-3 times a day. You might get a head ache for the first three days this is normal.
The other key to weight loss and general health is to consume plenty of water a day. When the fat cells are full of water they are converted to energy faster than those cells that do not have enough water.

If you use a juice fast for the appropriate amount of time, a diet will not be necessary as the fast, if done properly will cleanse your body and give it a good jump start. A proper diet is the correct phrase rather than going on a diet. For a functional juice fast you must use organic produce as they still contain important and needed enzymes, irridation has zapped the enzymes from commerically processed produce along with lack of nutritional soil from chemical farming procedures. Buy organic produce and juice them at home…bottled juice will not be of benefit…forget the convenience of it. After juicing the produce, drink right away as they lose nutritional value quickly. Do not eat anything solid as the juice fast gives your bowel a rest and chewing will start the system….if anything eat with the juice some applesauce or watermelon and liquid soups. A 21 day fast is most beneficial but is hard to stick with. Try to go at least 10 days for best results. Try adding blue green algae and coral calcium to the juices for extra nutrional value. Afterward eat a diet free of artificial ingredients as these are the ingredients that slow the digestive system and cause this country to be so overweight
Completely silly; there is no shred of credible evidence to support anything like this except anecdotes from crackpots.
