detox your body

maryquast asked:

I was on alot of meds for an illness for a long time. I’d like to cleanse my body of chemicals. I’ve changed my diet to organic food & purchased a Detox tea. Would a day of fasting help?

  1. A day of fasting will help somewhat but longer fasts will help more. It is the most effective way to cleanse your body. Most people are afraid of not eating. Jesus and Moses fasted for 40 days. See site below to see quotes from 18 MDs about fasting for detoxification and weight loss.

  2. Fasting won’t help. What you want to do is drink plenty of fluids. If you fasted for a day, you’d only not be putting something in your body- you wouldn’t be flushing it. Make sure you’re drinking 8 8oz glasses of water per day. Your body will cleanse itself over time.

  3. Fasting while drinking A LOT of water on that day will do your body a lot of good. Water helps wash out toxins anyways, so when you dont eat anything, it has a better chance to do its job

  4. The best way to detox your body is to eat natural foods, what I mean by that is only buy things with ONE ingredient i.e. an apple, an orange, brocolli etc. Instead fasting try spending a day where you eat ONLY vegetables and lean meats (or vegetarian substitutes) drink only water, it will do wonders for you. Your body needs 1200 calories a day just to exsist and sleep properly.

  5. not sure why you would want to weaken your body by not eating after getting over an illness

  6. I went on a 10 day fast once where I just drank milk. I was experimenting, and chose milk because it still has some protein and calcium, and is not all sugar like fruit juice. Because I did not want to starve myself, I figured I would allow my self to drink as much milk as I wanted, and supplement it with a multi-vitamin.
It was difficult, but I never felt hungry, or tired for lack of food. I exorcised some, but nothing special. After the 10 days of strict fasting, my metabolism reset, I had much more energy, felt far less junk food cravings… before the fast I drank a lot of coffee, and had aquired a sort of immunity to the effects of caffine… but that was reset too. (Not sure why, but it was nice) So in the end… after a little exocise in will power, I felt much healthier… and lost some weight in the process.

  7. try cranberry juice

  8. No, probably not. Medications have to be cleared from the body by the liver and there’s no way to speed that process up, so eat a nutritious, balanced diet and drink plenty of fluids, especially water.
